Knott's Berry Farm

Buena Park, California

Park Synopsis

General Information

Almost a century ago, Walter Knott sold berries from a roadside. In the 30's he helped invent the Boysenberry. He opened a Restaurant with his wife and sold chicken dinners on mothers day which became a very popular tradition. He added attractions behind his Restaurant, to entertain his guests. Thus the first theme park was born.

Knott's is a fun park for the whole family. There's Camp Snoopy for the kids and a few world class Roller coasters for the big kids, also shows, a train and a real stagecoach. Knott's invented and perfected the Halloween Haunt and it is like no other, by far the best. Knott's was sold to Cedar Fair in 1997 and currently owned by Cedar Fair. The park has vintage Ghost town buildings from Calico, Ca. and Prescott, Az. My suggestion is to see it before the current owners turn it completely into concrete and steel and paint it in their unnatural, gaudy color schemes.

Tips and tricks

buy tickets online,  it's a little cheaper and box office lines are long. Get there early.  park closes early.
Xcelerator and Ghost Rider have the longest lines.

Go during a weekday, off season. The park is empty.

For Halloween Haunt, go in early October. The earlier the better. You can shop outside the park with close 2 hrs. free parking.
I recommend the buffalo wings. Don't miss Snoopy on Ice. (just kidding)
